I Wonder, Wanda...Do You Wonder?

Wonder...
People travel to wonder at the height of mountains,
at the huge waves of the sea,
at the long courses of rivers,
at the vast compass of the ocean,
at the circular motion of the stars;
And they pass by themselves without wondering.

Looks like Saint Augustine is wondering where that pizza delivery guy is...

I'm mailing a copy of my self-published book, Consumed By Passion: The Little Book of Quotes For The Chocolate Lover to the gentleman who supplied the front cover photo. I really like that picture! So self-indulgent and fun. The cool thing is the photographer is in South Africa. Amazing how universal certain things are, like chocolate and books. You can find more of his work on stock.xchng under the name of "Urbanknite".

I've updated my blog list to include such non-writing sites as Wil Wheaton's blog and bOINGbOING. Wil's blog is a funny, refreshing take on a life that happened to include acting. bOINGbOING is just plain old fun -- kind of like a hip hardware/electronics/all other things interesting review and notable human behavior tidbits all rolled into to one easy-to-digest serving. Um...unlike that previous sentence.

Writing News and Heresay: "We want writers with a little talent, but no taste," so says San Jose State English Professor Scott Rice. Who is this guy? He was one of the judges in the San Jose State University's annual Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest. You remember Snoopy on top of his dog house typing "It was a dark and stormy night"? That kind of thing. Read all about it here.

Quick! A Writing Tip, Please! Sure, since you asked so nicely:
Hemingway's Rule #1 of writing: Use Short Sentences.
